Santorum Officially Won Iowa!

It’s Official: State GOP Confirms Santorum Iowa Winner

The Iowa Republican Party officially declared Rick Santorum the winner of the state’s Jan. 3 caucuses, after saying Thursday no winner could be confirmed because votes from eight precincts were missing.

Mitt Romney was initially declared the Iowa winner with an eight-vote finish over Santorum. On Thursday, the state Republican Party said the final vote count actually put Santorum ahead by 34 votes, but couldn’t officially declare him the winner because of the missing precincts.

But shortly before midnight Friday, on the eve of the South Carolina primary, the Iowa Republican Party reversed course and issued a one-line statement declaring Santorum the winner of the state, Politico reported.

It’s a rainy primary in SC, much to Ron Paul’s delight
quote:

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Steady and sometimes heavy rain has been drenching most of South Carolina this primary voting day, much to the delight of Ron Paul.

The Texas congressman joked at a campaign stop here Friday evening that some of his staff were praying for less favorable weather to tamp down turnout for those who would vote for other candidates, the implication being that Paul’s supporters would not stay home for any reason.

“When we were flying in [to Greenville], the weather was getting bad, and it was starting to rain, and I thought, is anybody going to show up?” Paul recounted at the Friday rally. “And somebody said, can you doubt that the weather is going to keep them at home?”

Scott Walker Turns Down Obamacare Funding
quote:

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who had already announced that he would delay the implementation of the health care exchange program in Wisconsin until the Supreme Court ruled on Obamacare’s constitutionality, announced earlier this week that the state will turn down the $37M grant from the Federal government which was designed to aid in the exchange implementation.

On Wednesday Walker said he was notifying the federal government that Wisconsin was turning down the Early Innovator Grant, saying it didn’t make sense to commit to reforms that could have a devastating economic impact.

“Stopping the encroachment of ObamaCare in our state, which has the potential to have a devastating impact on Wisconsin’s economy, is a top priority. Wisconsin has been a leader and innovator in health care reform for two decades, and we have achieved a high level of health insurance coverage without federal mandates,” Walker said in a statement.

Larry Kudlow: ‘Newt Gingrich is not a free-market capitalist’ [VIDEO]
quote:

On his Saturday radio show on WABC in New York City, host of CNBC’s “The Kudlow Report” Larry Kudlow voiced his displeasure with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich attacking former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s association with Bain Capital.

At the tail-end of his show in a panel format with Wall Street Journal senior economics writer Steve Moore, Real Clear Politics editor and founder John McIntyre, and American Enterprise Institute economic columnist James Pethokoukis, Kudlow charged Gingrich did not pass the free-market capitalism test.

“Jimmy [Pethokoukis], I don’t care whether Newt wins in South Carolina or not,” Kudlow said. “He’s not going to get the nomination and I don’t even think he’s a capitalist. He’s still pecking away as he did in the last debate with this left-wing stuff. He’s saying that, ‘You know Bain Capital — it wasn’t a venture capitalist fund. It was a bad private equity fund.’ I’m sorry. He doesn’t pass the smell test for capitalism.”

quote:

Believe it or not (and I didn’t think it possible), Mormonism was one reason Romney lost South Carolina. Exit polls show that most South Carolina voters wanted a candidate that shared similar religious views. Romney lost big among those voters. Levin’s request was prompted by a caller who said that the best ways to choose someone for the job of the presidency is to look into that person’s history. The caller was defending the ABC News interview with Newt Gingrich’s ex-wife and her revelations concerning their love life.
